The Nigerian Police have arrested four herdsmen, who allegedly bought and supplied Ak-47 riffles and ammunition to bandits terrorizing several parts of the country.
Information available to TOP SECRET NEWS LIVE revealed that the suspects were arrested by the operatives of the Force Intelligence Response Team, IRT, at Lafia area of Nasarawa State recently.
Police source disclosed that 320 rounds of live ammunition and two AK47 magazines were recovered from the suspects
According to Police, the suspects are Abdullahi Mohamed, Haruna Bello, Usianie Abdulahi Aka Gide and Yusuf Barkeje.
It was revealed that the suspects were nabbed while they were about delivering the ammunition and the magazines to receivers who were identified as Yellie, in Lokoja and Bello in Warri, Delta State.
It was gathered that the operatives of IRT in the cause of investigation, discovered that bandits were supplied ammunition by a syndicate that based in Abuja and Nassarawa State respectively.
Our source disclosed that: “When we commenced our investigation, we discovered that one of the suspects Abdullah, who was their transporter resided in Kubwa area of Abuja and we stormed his hideout and arrested him.
“He confessed his role as a driver and revealed that he had been contacted to pick another 320 rounds of ammunition from some members of his syndicate in Nasarawa for onward delivery to a contact identified as as Bello”.
“Abudulahi, then led us to Lafia, Nassarawa State, where we arrested three other members of the gang: Usianei, Harunna and Barkeje and the 320 round of the ammunition was recovered from them. During interrogation, they confessed that they started the illegal business last year adding that they buy one round of the ammunition at the rate of N700:00 and that their operational vehicle was a golf car”.
“They said they usually open the door mart of the car and neatly concealed back after stacking the ammunition in it. According to them, this often enabled them to beat security operatives on the road”.
