- We Shall Dump Party In Droves if… – Imo LP Chieftain
By Ekene Uzoma, Owerri
Political allies of Governor Hope Uzodinma have successfully emerged Labour Party delegates in the 305 Wards and 27 local government areas in the state to elect the Governorship candidate of the party on Friday.
Information has it that in his bid to frustrate the party and render it ineffective in the Governorship race, Uzodinma was said to have infiltrated Labour Party with his allies who are still card carrying members of APC.
The delegate election of the party earlier scheduled to hold on Tuesday (today), April 11th, 2023 was abruptly cancelled after it was discovered that Uzodinma and his stooges had paid heavily and hijacked the delegate list in Imo state.
A leader of Labour Party in Imo state who spoke on condition of anonymity regretted that all efforts put in place to give Imo people a better alternative through Labour Party was defeated by the infiltration of the party with Uzodinma’s allies.
The LP Leader therefore frowned at the National leadership of the party for giving members of APC the undue privilege to hijack the party delegates, and vowed to dump the party for a more credible alternative to realize their vision if the Uzodinma’s preferred aspirant emerges Governorship candidate on Friday.
It can be recalled that Governor Uzodinma and his allies have been accused of sponsoring over five Governorship aspirants in Imo Labour Party to help destroy and render it ineffective.
